Good Morning! Today, we’re diving into the present continuous tense, plus you'll learn some handy office phrases and polish your pronunciation. In just 5 minutes, you'll walk away with something new to practice right away.

GRAMMAR
Present Continuous Tense
The present continuous is used for actions happening right now or around the current time.
Structure:
[Subject] + [am/is/are] + [verb + -ing]
I am reading a book.
She is watching TV.
They are studying English.
When to use it:
Actions happening right now: "I am writing an email."
Temporary actions: "She is staying in London for six months."

Work & Office Phrases
Today’s theme is the workplace. Here are 5 common phrases you can use:
Meet a deadline – Finish work by the agreed time.
"I need to meet the deadline by 5 PM."
Take a day off – Not work on a particular day.
"I’m taking a day off next Friday."
In a meeting – Currently attending a meeting.
"Sorry, I’m in a meeting right now."
Call it a day – Decide to stop working for the day.
"Let’s call it a day and go home."
Catch up on work – Do work that you should have done earlier.
"I need to catch up on my emails."

PRONUNCIATION
The ‘ing’ Ending
When you pronounce words ending in ‘-ing’, focus on the "n" sound at the end. For example:
Reading → /ˈriːdɪŋ/
Studying → /ˈstʌdiɪŋ/
👂 Listen & Repeat: Say “I am studying” aloud 3 times. Notice how your tongue touches the roof of your mouth on the "n" sound.
CONVERSATIONAL PHRASES
“I’m in the middle of…”
This is a great phrase to use when you want to explain that you’re doing something right now and can’t be interrupted.
Example:
“Can I call you back later? I’m in the middle of a meeting.”
